All Vertex BD packages, Architectural, Framer, and Pro, are available for cold-formed / light gauge steel framing.
Vertex BD Framer and Vertex BD Pro for cold-formed / light gauge steel are primarily used as panel fabrication software by component manufacturers and panelizers to automate the process of generating wall and floor panel fabrication drawings, structural layouts, cut lists, and other material reports. Utilizing an NC Link add-on module, manufacturers can also export data directly to roll-forming machines. By automating these processes, manufacturers are saving an enormous amount of time in drafting, material reporting, data entry, manufacturing, and correcting all the errors typically made along the way.
The Framer and Pro packages contain the functionality necessary for creating structural layouts and fabrication drawings. This includes all the features for creating walls, doors, windows, roof, ceilings, and floors in 2D layouts and 3D models, as well as, the framing layout features for walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs. It also includes roof and floor truss layout tools for generating the 2D layouts and truss shape drawings.

Truss shape information can be exported to Truss D & E engineering software from JFBA (www.jfba.com) for analysis. Engineered truss members can then be imported back into the Vertex BD model for BIM collaboration.

All Vertex BD base packages include building material collection and reporting features, detail drawing management tools, and a full set of 2D CAD drafting tools. Building material information may be exported to inventory, scheduling, and other construction management software. Drawings may be printed, plotted, or converted to PDF, DWG, and DXF files.
Vertex BD Framer and Vertex BD Pro contain the most customizable framing package available. It is delivered with standard material libraries, framing details and rules, all of which may be modified by your own Vertex BD administrator, or with the assistance of Argos Systems. Vertex BD is not restricted to specific material manufacturers, and is an open system that can utilize any manufacturers products. Custom and proprietary material shapes may also be added into the system. It is also one of the few framing software packages that allows designers to modify the framing after it has already been generated, enabling a designer to create just about any framing configuration.
Another extremely powerful feature that makes Vertex BD the premier framing system is the ability to add custom programs to the framing process. We have created thousands of custom programs to do everything from adding special notes and dimensions, adding additional connectors and other components, to completely changing automatically generated framing.
Vertex BD is currently a rule based detailing system used for manufacturing and material reporting. Even though it does not perform any structural calculations or make any recommendations based on an engineering analysis, manufacturers are using Vertex BD as a collaboration tool with their engineers. Building projects can be passed from the initial designer, to the engineer, and finally to the manufacturer without having to redraw the model. This enables an efficient work flow, while also reducing the risk of errors being introduced during the lifecycle of the project.
